In Advance lesson 1, we will be going through the usage of + あります, おきます & みます.

Usage of て + あります

Basically, verb + + あります implies that the current situation is what it is due to someone's action.

Verbs used in this particular usage is usually transitive.

Difference between て - います and て - あります

1. The door is opened.
1. ドアが開いています
This sentence states the fact. the door is opened.
2. The door is opened.
2. ドアが開けてあります
This sentence states the same fact but also implying that someone opened it.
Things to note:
  1. てあります is mostly used with transitive verbs
  2. You can use ています for verbs with no transitive pair.
  3. is the particle in the sentence structure. E.g. テレビが消してあります。

Usage of て + おきます

There are 2 ways to use te + okimasu.

One is to express to do something in preparation; the other is to complete an action before a certain time.

1. Before you go out, please switch off the lights.
1. 出かける前に、電気が消しておいてください
To do something in preparation
1. Leave the lights on as it is.
1. 電気がつけておきます
To leave it as it is; maintain a situation as it is
